"wherever the river runs" giveaway

I've had the privilege of reading Kelly Minter's new book, "Wherever the River Runs: How a forgotten people renewed my hope in the Gospel." This book is a vivid memoir of Kelly's trips down the Amazon River in Brazil, meeting the jungle dwellers who are so in need of Jesus--who is a healer, a caregiver, a light in times of darkness.

I really enjoyed her detailed story-telling, especially when she goes into specifics about individuals she met: like a little boy named Yan who sought a home for his family, or a woman named Clarinia who had spent her entire life in a hammock, limited by cerebral palsy. Kelly ministers to the people she meets while writing about how she felt God using them to teach her more about Him.

An excerpt:

"I think our tendency is to believe that God is inviting someone else into the ministry of reconciliation, tapping someone a little more gifted or holy for the work, sending the person to the jungle who feels particularly poised for a riverboat trip down the longest river in the world . . . but the reality is that God has called every one of his children to the poor, the outcast, those on the fringes of society, the spiritually hungry. Hardly ever do we feel ready, comfortable with the task, confident in our goodness, or have any idea where the river might run, but--such a sobering wonder--He has called us still."

I'm giving away a copy of Kelly's book! Enter the Rafflecopter below and a winner will be chosen on August 18th, at 12 am EST.
