I’ve had the privilege to review quite a few recently-published marriage books in the past year. They’ve all been very helpful and filled with sound advice. I think all of us could benefit from reading tips to make our marriages stronger! Even when there aren’t huge, glaring problems in the relationship—there are always little, nitpicky ones that could use fixing. Ashleigh Slater’s new book, “Team Us: Marriage Together,” talks about bolstering up the husband and wife bond. Today, I am giving away a copy to one lucky winner!
The premise is that as a married couple, we need to shift to the mentality that we are working as a TEAM. We are no longer individuals, and we definitely aren’t rivals aiming for our own side to win.
“Naturally, it requires teamwork as we commit to killing ingrained habits that steal joy from our marriage and extend patience as the other does the same.”
This book includes so many open and honest stories about Ashleigh and her husband Ted’s ups and downs. Ashleigh includes tons of pop culture references (Gilmore Girls, Full House, The Princess Bride, Hunger Games) which makes for an entertaining and quick read. There are plenty of “Ted Says” quote boxes where her husband jumps in to add something from his perspective. Together they have four children, and I appreciate a marriage book that considers what being in the trenches with young kids has on a relationship. This book is designed to be read together—or at least discussed together—as there are questions for reflection at the end of each chapter.
If you feel like you need to get on the same page as your spouse, or if you just want to hear some thoughts on Christ-centered marriage, I would love for you to enter the giveaway!
