Flea Market Weekend

The only time I had ever been to a flea market was with my grandparents when I was in early elementary school. It was the Shipshewana Flea Market in the Amish country of Indiana. I remember endless white tents, beautiful and rusty antiques and treasures, and the colorful Aztec-printed sweatshirts that my cousins and I came home with.

My friend Sue recommended an amazing summer flea market near to us, and it was open this weekend! Steve had gone when he was twelve or so, and he was ready to see it again with me :)

It was like going to the best and most enormous thrift store! I spent a lot of time at the beginning of the market before I realized that the aisles extended. . . far.

Nolan found his sweet church friend, Aliza!

I seemed to have eyes for glassware and glassware alone! Vintage Pyrex dishes, old milk bottles, blue Masons, and pretty jadeite. Two of these 109 year-old blue Masons came home with me! :)

Our boys were so good! Nolan didn't complain about walking, and Ephraim enjoyed his view from the stroller the whole time!

I fell in love with these jadeite pieces, but they were pretty pricey. I bought a small citrus reamer that I'm excited about!

Steve enjoyed browsing the antique tools and nostalgic kids' toys. His souvenir was a box of baseball cards. :)

Nolan said he was hungry every time we passed a food vendor, so Steve distracted him with a promise of ice cream on the way home.

They mixed up our order and gave Ephraim the largest size ;)

On Sunday, we went to church and then a fun birthday party for three-year-old twin girls :) It was warm, and the boys LOVED playing with the water table and the kiddie pool!

We finished off our Sunday night with a trip to the park with friends and a long bath for both boys! It was so nice to spend so much time outside this weekend!

Hope your Monday is starting off well!

  2. The flea market looks like fun - I like the blue mason jars and the jadeite pieces... I think our area flea markets are more junky... one reason why I stay away.
