Pennsylvania, she kind of caught my soul.

Points if you know where the title came from. :)

September is here, and I am trying to hang on to the last bits of summer. This might be one of the hardest summers for me to say goodbye to, as it will become known as "Our last summer in Pennsylvania". I lived in Pennsylvania for 8+ years, Steve lived there for 20, and all three boys were born there. I wonder if it will always be home for our family.

Here are some of our favorite summer memories (part one):

Squeezing onto the same chair to play in the water :)

I loved this little corner of the living room with our baby grand piano. We left the piano with the house both because it would have been a huge hassle to move, and it just fit there so perfectly.

A couple of months ago, my friends and I ate at a restaurant in town that had the most amazing pineapple salsa. One night, I told Steve that I couldn't get the salsa off of my mind, so he went to the restaurant and bought a 7-pound tub of it. #gobigorgohome #goodhusband

My friend Heidi and I took our kids on a trip to a little farm/zoo out in the country. The farm caught fire just a few weeks before, but thankfully the animals were fine. It was a really fun place!

We saw pigs, sheep, a zebra, peacocks, donkeys, deer, you name it. It was a warm day, and August was a trooper.

My favorite part of the farm was the black bears. We fed them animal crackers through a long white tube, and they would shake the end to ask for more. It was kind of surreal to be that close to them!

Peanut butter cup cupcakes for a church picnic at the state park.

Ahh! That face!

At the end of July, the boys went to VBS at my mom's church, and they had such a blast! Ephraim was in a huge group of 3-4 year-olds, and he did not want me to leave him there by himself. I ended up staying with him all five days, and again August was such a trooper to be carried around VBS all week!

Right before we found out we were moving, a sweet couple gave us their dining room set when they relocated to Florida. It has been such a wonderful, unexpected gift! I will probably have to do something about the white seat cushions and three little boys though. . . ;)

Baby August was dedicated at our church. We promised to raise him to know Jesus, and we pray that someday he will make the choice to love and follow Him, too. "

Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'" Matthew 19:14

Pure joy, this one!

We loved our weekly visits with Carol! We miss her hugs and her Friday donuts!

I never did a before/after of our bedroom, but this wall was dark brown paneling for the first two years that we lived there. Once we painted it white, it became one of my favorite places in the house. The pretty hydrangeas came from my in-laws' garden :)

August's first bite of real food - rice cereal!

Our friends Scott and Sarah took Nolan and Ephraim fishing for the first time. It was such a beautiful night.

What an incredible sky!

This is the view that I miss most. . . our big green backyard.

He was so fascinated with Ivy!

This baby cardinal visited our bay window every evening. :) I'm thinking of buying a bird feeder for our new house here in Indiana. We don't have any trees, so we don't see any birds.

Ben & Jerry love. :) :)

Carol and Meghan made the boys gift bags that said, "We'll be blue without you." with lots of little blue toys inside. So sweet!

On this day, Ephraim was determined to make his own cake. We settled for brownies stuffed with marshmallows. Mmm!

Part two coming soon!
