Decking Our Halls

I've been looking forward to today for weeks! I LOVE Christmas home tour time. I've been arranging and rearranging decor for the last few days to get everything (new and old) in the right places. The boys definitely enjoyed helping put the decorations on the tree, and so far there have been no ornament casualties (crossing my fingers!) Luckily all the ball ornaments are shatter-proof as they have been manhandled quite a bit :) Our living room now has that beautiful Christmas glow, and we are so ready for a month of joy in anticipating our Savior's birth.

If you have a post to share, link up with Astleigh and me at the bottom of this post. I'm also joining up with Andrea's "Show and Tell" series. I can't wait to see all of your homes with their Christmas touches!

"Lars Erik" (as he is called) was hand-carved by my Grandpa a few years ago. He actually gets to stay out year-round, but we love him extra at Christmastime :)

A Target Dollar Spot find, this "Home for the Holidays" wood sign is a new favorite of ours! We have battery-operated candles in twelve windows on the front of the house, and they stay on for 8 hours of the day. Can you believe the batteries have lasted since last Christmas?

Two very special ornaments on the tree are our "Baby's First Christmas" lamb and deer for Nolan and Ephraim :)

This is the boys' favorite ornament because it sings! They fight over turns to press the button and play "Santa Baby"! I bought it in 2008 the day after Steve proposed.

"Santa Baby, I forgot to mention one little thing. . . A ring. . . I don't mean on the phone." :)

My late Grandma Shirley (whose birthday was Christmas Day) made this little mitten :)

I just picked up the reclaimed-wood Merry Christmas sign from a craft fair on Saturday, and I am so in love with it! I debated between a black sign and a red sign, and I am so glad I went with the red! It's so bright and lovely! The gold deer came from Target.

Last week, I went for a long drive to Trader Joe's to pick up a $9.99 fresh boxwood wreath. It is so gorgeous! I also found 20 feet of fresh pine garland for $6.99. It is the perfect filler for our built-ins and mantel.

Miss Nyota Uhura is our newest ornament. Steve has now been gifted all six of the Hallmark Star Trek series :) (Look at that skirt!)

Red and green Christmas candy is such an easy way to decorate!

Steve gave me the Dala horse for my birthday this year. It looks on to the manger scene :)  I made the God Jul print last year. Leave a comment or shoot me an email if you want the free copy of it.

The stockings I bought for $4 total last year at Dollar Tree, and I wrote our names in gold glitter. This is my first time ever hanging stockings over the fireplace, and it looks so classic and sweet!

The butcher paper has a Christmas update, "Silent Night, Holy Night". It prompts me to sing the song in my head every time I see it. The red beads are new from Target.

Caught a sweet moment of Ephraim talking to Ivy.

We have a glass star hanging in the window above the couch, and I hung adorable little reindeer lights up above. I bought them from the Target Dollar Spot. A friend of mine on Instagram hung them with Command hooks on her daughters' headboards, which is a cute idea as well.

On Saturday, I made my first wreath. It's made of fresh pine branches from our friends' home out on the mountain. It was so much fun! Our entryway smells amazing!

For the past two Christmases, I've hung this bunting over the fireplace, but now with our stockings there, I needed a new spot for it. I decided to nail it up over the doorway to the dining room. It's made of scrap materials that were my Grandma's.

At night, the lit-up trees create the perfect ambience. It makes me want to heat a mug of hot chocolate and cuddle up to some Christmas movies!

My decor hasn't migrated yet into the dining room and kitchen, but I'm assuming I'll continue decorating and moving things around as the month goes on!

How do you like to decorate for Christmas?

  3. You have the best mantle and built-ins for decorating. I love your affordable adorable stockings! And I love how your tree is filled with keepsake ornaments instead of everything matching. That's my favorite.
