“mom’s night out”

mom's night out
This is a public service announcement to say that you NEED to watch the new movie “Mom’s Night Out”!  This isn’t a sponsored post at all—Steve and I just happened to rent it from the Redbox last night, and we loved it! It is SO relatable, humbling, and encouraging for moms. And if your husband likes “Lord of the Rings” like mine does, he’ll agree to watch for Sean Astin. :) You’ll end up laughing out loud together.

In keeping with mad-cap misadventure films, situations established in the beginning are revisited, and things come full-circle. This lets the humor build upon itself throughout the movie. There are a few mommy-blog jokes that are spot on. :)

Things you can expect: Car chase. Missing baby. Tattoo parlor. Unexpected pregnancy. ER visit. Jail. Tasers. Glow-in-the-dark dancing in a bowling alley.

We’re big fans of the recent Christian film-making effort to get big name actors involved with these kinds of projects. It gives the film legitimacy, you have the draw of a known face (Sarah Drew from Grey’s Anatomy, Patricia Heaton from Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.) It typically means there is better acting as well. :)

Overall, the message is that God has called us moms to be moms, and he’s already equipped us with what we need. It’s not always happy; it is often chaotic; but we learn to seek joy in the good and the bad days of parenting.

And there’s a good soundtrack. So go watch.

Tip: We like to reserve our movies on Redbox.com so we can choose a location and make sure it’s there when we arrive. It’s easier that way :)

  5. We got this from red box a week or two ago and I told my husband at the beginning that I didn't know they had written a movie about me! Ha ha! Very relatable!
