dad

This morning, I’m waking up in my beautiful hometown of Chicago—about a mile from the house that I grew up in. My dad passed away twenty-three years ago today in this city. Steve and I took the boys to the cemetery for the first time to see my dad’s and sister’s side-by-side gravestones. Nolan isn’t at the age yet to understand any of it, but it was special for me to take him there nonetheless.

T
My favorite throwback photo of him!

Miss you so much, Dad!

On his stone is the verse John 11:25:

“Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’”

  3. Wow. This post touched a place in my heart. My mother passed away 6 years ago, and it feels like it was just yesterday. I'm so thankful we have hope in Jesus, so we know one day we'll be with them again. :)

  4. This is such a sweet sweet post & tribute to your dad. I know I have talked with you before about losing my sweet mama, and I just love how your brought your sweet boys to visit. This definitely gives me courage to do the same. And the verse on the gravestone? Oh my...could not be more perfect!! <3 <3 <3 http://www.mommyhoodinheelsandflats.blogspot.com
