Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!! As happy as I am to see the weekend, I want the rest of August to go by slowly so we can savor this beautiful warm weather and my birthday month :)

Here are my favorites from the week:

On Wednesday night, I posted this photo on Instagram with a caption about my favorite time of night. Steve and I love cuddling on the couch with mugs of hot green tea while we watch our summer show, Royal Pains. (We've made it to season 5 now.)

There was one point in the show where I heard a noise that I thought came from the kitchen. I assumed it was the dog, but then I looked behind me, and she was fast asleep. Steve went in the kitchen and didn't see anything awry.

About fifteen minutes later, Steve went downstairs to switch the laundry over. He left the basement door open, and I heard him get startled by something. He yelled up to me, "There's a bat!" And soon. . . "There are two bats!" He watched them for a few minutes, but lost track of them and came back upstairs. While we were deciding what to do next, we heard them trying to fly or crawl up the heating vent!

Eventually, the bats made it outside. But now, I'm never going in the basement! We know they live in the attic, but we haven't seen one in our living space for over a year. Steve had been cleaning up the basement earlier in the day, and he must have opened up an entry point for them somehow! Ahh!

Our attic is so pretty, and I wish we could use it, but as long as these bats co-habitate with us, I'll be sticking to the two main levels :)

My favorite piece of mail this week was a card from my beautiful and creative cousin Katie! I can't wait for her big day next year in Nebraska!

On Tuesday, I posted about our newly-painted white fireplace (and some before and afters). We love the fresh and modern update to our cozy living room!

I also linked to these pretty, free pineapple prints:

If you missed Wednesday's recipe, you HAVE to try this easy oven s'mores dessert. It takes just a few minutes, and it still has that classic, nostalgic campfire taste :)

Astleigh and I shared some of our favorite steals and deals yesterday for the Every Girl Link-Up! I talked about some finds from the thrift store. Our next link-up is September 3rd, when we'll photograph our simple fall decor. Join us!

I can't wait for our favorite Friday night pizza tonight! My mouth starts watering for it days in advance for this cheesy goodness :)

The rest of the weekend, you'll find me hanging with these sweet faces. I'm a lucky girl!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

See you here on Monday!

  1. The bats! I cannot even... I'm not sure I would have slept that night. Or any night thereafter! Hopefully they leave soon? But in other news I love the fireplace makeover! Your house has such great character.

    1. Outside, I think they're fun to watch!
The last time we looked into having a professional come in and remove them, it was $$$$!

  6. Your post yesterday encouraged me to make a stop at Goodwill and I got some great stuff for my classroom for only $20 :) My family returned home from vacation one summer to find a bat in our kitchen...thinking back on that, it was so funny, but I totally understand why you choose to stay away from the attic haha!
