My Twenty-Eighth

I had such a wonderful day yesterday celebrating my birthday with some of my favorite people! I couldn't have asked for a better day, and I'm so grateful for all of the birthday wishes sent my way :)

Rewinding to Sunday. . . after church, we decided to start the birthday festivities a little early. Following lunch with my in-laws, we did one of my favorite things--we road-tripped to Target! Surprisingly, we left Target empty-handed, but we spent some time at Michael's and Panera, so the trip was not a failure :)

Last day of twenty-seven!

The boys were pretty wiped after a busy day of church and shopping. Nolan was disappointed that Chick-Fil-A was closed, but he didn't complain too much about the big blueberry muffins at Panera :)

Such a little angel when he's asleep!

The drive home at sunset was beautiful. The blue ombre mountains in Pennsylvania are incredible! I wish the cell camera could capture their majesty a little better.

Yesterday, while Steve was at work, the boys and I went to our weekly lunch with ladies from church. This time, they surprised me with flowers, a little chocolate cake, and a gift! The owner of the restaurant gave me a loaf of freshly-baked bread with a candle stuck in the middle ;)

After Steve got home from work, we went over to my mom's house for a steak and sweet potato dinner. It was delicious! I love having a late summer birthday when we can still eat outside on the back porch.

After dinner, I was spoiled with a cookie dough blizzard ice cream cake from Dairy Queen!

My mom is the best! I'm so grateful for all that she does for me, and for all four of us.

I have loved my year of being twenty-seven, but I'm looking forward to what twenty-eight has to offer. On my birthday, I always think about how I want the next year to go, and how I want to change and improve personally. I haven't set any big goals yet, but I know that I want to be living more and more by faith. I may not know what this year, or even this next day may hold. But I will trust and depend that God will guide me and strengthen me with whatever comes our way.

Thanks again for such sweet birthday greetings yesterday! XO.
