chocolate trifle & a favorite thing

chocolate trifle
Last month, we enjoyed a Thanksgiving potluck dinner with our church family. I wanted to make an easy, yet special dessert. I figured no one else would make something chocolate, so I chose this trifle. The bowl was scraped clean—it was well-loved. I made it again last week for Steve to take to the high-schoolers at youth group. Again, it was well-loved.

Ingredients:

Brownie Mix (13x9 Family Size)
Vegetable Oil (amount mentioned on brownie mix box)
Eggs (amount mentioned on brownie mix box)
Two (3.9 ounce) Jello Chocolate Instant Puddings
4 cups milk
16 ounce Cool Whip, thawed
Half a bag of Oreos—15 cookies (I chose Cool Mint for an added flavor)

Directions
:
Follow the instructions on the brownie mix box. Bake the pan of brownies, and let cool.

Crush up 15 Oreos. I did this in a plastic bag with a rolling pin.

In a large bowl, beat the pudding mixes with 4 cups of milk using a wire whisk for 2 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes to become the right texture.

Cut the pan of brownies into little bite-size squares. Line the bottom of the trifle bowl with half the pan of brownie squares. Pour in half the pudding. Sprinkle half of your crushed Oreos over the pudding. Then scoop half the tub of Cool Whip over that. Smooth each layer with a spoon as you go . Next, fill with the rest of the brownies. Pudding. Then Cool Whip. Top with the remaining crushed Oreos.

So simple! Enjoy!

Linking up today with Andrea & Erika to share a favorite thing under $10: my new trifle bowl!

I knew I wanted to make a trifle, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend the money on a specific trifle bowl—I thought maybe I could make it in another big dish. But, I found the bowl at Walmart a few weeks ago for only $6.97! It’s made by Anchor, so it’s a good brand, and it perfectly displays all of the lovely layers :)

And to throw in another one of my favorite things: Holiday Mint M&M’s! ($2.88 at Walmart). Not many M&Ms come in the bag, but they are so delicious! Maybe they should be sprinkled on a trifle…

Thanks for stopping by today!
