life lately

Thoughts:

Excessive snow this week, as well as frozen temperatures have kept us hibernating at home. The cold has also brought a few unexpected friends: a squeaking attic bat, who seems to have migrated inside my closet walls now, and a mouse (or mole?) who made a home in my pile of dirty bath towels in the basement. It was fun to see the towels move and make an angry noise when I went to gather them up to throw in the washer. (Steve was called for emergency back-up.)
I guess I will just stay on first and second floors now… :)

Steve and I have noticed I’m using the phrase “before the baby comes” frequently, and I find urgency in my to-do lists—which means that I’m completely nesting. I love it; I love that he will be here next month.

On Wednesday, I mentioned wanting to make another crocheted infinity scarf… thus a new green one was born this weekend.

Nolan investigates everything. EVERYTHING. Try to put something out of his reach and he’ll do his best to get it. He learned how to open the freezer (it’s on the bottom of the fridge). I have found him several times sitting in his booster seat with an Edy’s ice cream container and a spoon in front of him, waiting for my go-ahead to eat it (the go-ahead doesn’t come at nine in the morning). He also drags a chair over to the pantry to reach the food on higher shelves. My pregnant self is just not energetic enough to stop these things before they happen ;)

Steve finished his first semester teaching “Business and Professional Communications” for his alma mater. He has been traveling 45 minutes to the class on Monday nights, so it’s nice he’ll have a break until the next semester starts up in January.

I started a Facebook page for “Floral and Fudge”.
I’m so grateful to all who keep reading and sharing my little space on the internet with their friends!

We received our first handful of Christmas cards this week. There’s nothing better than December mail and packages waiting on the porch. I’m hoping our Christmas cards come from the printer today so I can address them and mail them out :) Nine days until Christmas!

“…He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners…
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.”
